Shiseido is a Japanese cosmetics and hair products company, which claims to be the oldest in the world. It was established originally as a pharmacy, back in 1872, by Arinobu Fukuhara, previously head Pharmacist of the Japanese Imperial Navy.
Shiseido was the first company to introduce flesh toned makeup to the Japanese consumer, where previously all face covering makeup was white in colour. They also introduced the first skin softening lotion, developed after it was discovered that the makeup Japanese women were previously using contained white lead.
Shiseido cosmetics are now sold all around the world, and include primer and foundation products, eyeliner, pencils, mascara, blushes, lipsticks and concealers.
